Center Parcs

This is a montage video of my holiday to Center Parcs. I was able to play with different techniques which i could possibly use in different videos. A lot of the footage was quite dark so to improve i need to learn to change the camera settings to  suit the environment.

Magic (After Effects)

This is another after effects video i created by watching a tutorial. I am again continuing to learn basic skills about After Effects. This was a very interesting video to create. I learned what rotoscoping is and how to use it. The rotoscoping isnt great in the video because the colours are all very similar especially with the feet and the floor. I also learned about ways to colour objects, how to add plugins into after effects and how to turn things into 3D objects. In future i would like to learn more about lighting in videos and how to make basic videos look cinematic.

Star Wars II (After Effects)

This video uses the same technique from the last post with the addition of some other basic camera work to create a short film. The video uses a lot of match on action which a technique i learned in my first year of media studies. I continued to learn more about basic after effect skills.

After Effects Introduction

Here is my first ever attempt at creating something on after effects. This lightsaber video is basically a stop motion animation i created using basic tools and coloring effects. The video was made from an online tutorial. This served as a good way to get to know after effects.

Charity Single

Using the skills i learned from the music video i decided to set up a campaign to aid the Syrian Humanitarian Crisis. The video is far from perfect, my media teacher edited the video at the same time as me and there was some confusion which led to the end product having some issues. Some of the lip syncing is off and the colours are quite bleak but the video was for charity and the editing didn't need to be perfect for our point to come across. I did the sound for this video as well which i am quite proud of because i have never created anything like this before.

Music Videos

This is my end piece after year 2. I edited this music video. It was interesting creating a music video as it is so different to everything else. The amount of footage needed is astounding and the time it took to create was spectacular. I learnt how to plan videos throughout creating this video including practices such as story boarding. We decided on using the flip out/in to scenes which is consistant throughout the video.

End of Year 1

This is my final piece of my first year of Media studies. I had a big role in the group taking control as the camera man and editor. I learned how to use effects such as Warp Stabilizer while creating this video to get smooth shots, i also learned the limitation of using a Stabilizer, its better to have good footage. Creating and applying FOLEY was also something i learned while creating this video. I hadnt yet worked out how to change the camera to a wide lens so the sides are cropped.

Camera Work (Juno)

This was my first attempt at formulating a video by using my own footage. The clips are quite wobbly but the principles of camera work were learned here. I started to work out when it was suitable to use a tripod and when to to hand held, how to get a smooth shot. The basic assembly was important for this task and my knowledge was improved with this.

Getting a Grip (Dancing Bears)

This clip is from the first time i used Adobe Premiere Pro. It acted as the beginning of my course work for AS Media Studies. The video experiments with video transitions and basic effects. I learned the basic skills of assembling videos together which i have used in every video i have made. This is the foundations of all my knowledge.
